12ml Psilocybe Cubensis Spore Syringes
Why are our spore syringes so ‘cheap’ compared with other shops?
It does not reflect lower quality, let me explain some facts…
When we first opened Cylocybe, there wasn’t another spore vendor in this scene, and we knew people would have to spend more than £15 to import them from the USA. Essentially, we took advantage of being the only shop and charged too much. We never thought our products would become popular or that we’d make more than a couple of hundred pounds a month. But our products did get popular. With the profit, we stopped making spore syringes inside a SAB and built a lab. We never dropped the prices down to a reasonable amount. Until now. There are obscene amounts of money to be made from spore syringes.
We have changed as people since our 2023–2025 hiatus. We didn’t like where this scene was going, and we didn’t want to be part of it any longer. But now that we are back, we have to fix a few things. We have to drive down the profitability of spore syringes; it’s ruining this scene. We’ve been equally complicit.
In 2025, when there are umpteen different shops, those old, sky-high prices don’t make sense. They aren’t just unfair to customers’ wallets and purses; they are creating a cesspool of ‘money over morels’ (pun intended) types getting in on this scene for the wrong reasons. In our eyes, they are not here to expand and innovate, but to steal original ideas, attempt to trademark common terms, steal content, and line their pockets.
The truth is, a 12ml spore syringe only costs a vendor £0.76 to produce. We can fill and cap one hundred 12ml syringes in roughly 15 minutes; it’s the bagging and labelling that takes all the time.
And if we start making more sales for these spore syringes, we’ll knock the price down further than £8 (which is half the price it was yesterday). £8 is still an extremely profitable markup from 76 pence a spore syringe.
This needs to be the new Cylocybe going forward. We’re on a mission to make this hobbyy less about excess money-making (and the bad behaviour that spawns), starting with us. If we fail, we’re out of here.
Next up is a sterile mushroom grow kit (for legal species only!) better than anything you have ever seen (watch this space).

Your Spore Syringe Questions Answered
Product & Scientific Questions
Q: Are your syringes 100% sterile?+
You will find vendor after vendor spreading nonsense for a sale, but not here. It’s a scientific impossibility, unless you are literally sterilising your spores dead. Spore syringes can only ever be clean, the mushrooms are grown in cleanroom labs but even those cleanroom labs have microbes getting through the HEPA filters. Let’s not even get to when you add a human into a cleanroom (hint, we are incredible at spreading microbes).
We prepare our syringes in a cleanroom using a laminar flow hood to produce a solution with a high ratio of spores to any potential contaminants. On top of that, the spore prints we use come from professional mushroom cultivation labs, not from hobby growers. This is our practical standard for cleanliness and effective microscopy. We aim for the cleanest spore syringes, but if you want mythical spore syringes there are plenty of competitors in the UK selling those 😉
Q: What is your lab process and attention to detail?+
To get an idea of the attention to detail which kept us UK No. 1 year-after-year until our hiatus from the scene in 2023:
After syringes are filled with spore solution, they are immediately passed over to a second person who screws on sterile syringe caps, all whilst sitting in front of the flow hood. The capped spore syringes are then quickly sealed in a ziplock bag.
Once we finish filling and capping the spore syringes, we clean the stainless steel workspace. Then, one by one, we take each spore syringe and pack it into a laminar-foil, light-blocking bag. We never use paper labels inside the lab because dirty, sticky labels don’t mix well with latex-gloved hands. This means the syringe itself will never be labelled, keeping it clean. When the time comes to remove it from the bag, you won’t cross-contaminate your workspace by handling a syringe with a dirty exterior.
Labelling is performed on the foil bag after we exit the the laminar flow hood. We do not use paper labels; our labels are made of polypropylene. This allows you to safely wipe the foil bag with isopropyl alcohol before taking it into your SAB. Our entire production process for spore syringes is carefully thought out and designed for the customer’s benefit, not our own.

Usage & Storage
Q: How should I store my spore syringes?+
Q: How do I use the syringe for microscopy?+
- First, ensure your microscope slide and workspace are clean using the provided alcohol wipe.
- Break off the clear tamper-evident cap and use its built-in tool to unscrew the red syringe cap.
- Next, tightly attach the needle to the syringe and shake it vigorously to distribute the spores.
- Then, dispense a small amount onto your slide and place a cover slip over it.
- Finally, when you are finished, flame sterilise the needle until red hot and carefully re-attach the plastic cover.
Legal Information
Q: Is it legal to buy these spores in the UK?

While their genetics give rise to different mushroom forms, all strains still share this classification:
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Agaricales
- Family: Hymenogastraceae
- Genus: Psilocybe
- Species: P. cubensis
