Lion’s Mane Liquid Culture
Lion’s Mane, Hericium erinaceus
Produced from Grade A mother culture
The fascinating Lion’s Mane mushroom has grown in popularity over recent years due to its wide use in health supplements for its cognitive-enhancing properties, among many other medicinal benefits. It’s by far one of the most distinctive mushrooms in the fungi kingdom and is extremely rewarding to grow at home.
The Lion’s Mane mushroom is nature’s brain food. With its cascading, icicle-like spines that resemble a lion’s majestic mane (or a fluffy pom-pom), this mushroom is as unique in appearance as it is in flavour. Its delicate, slightly sweet taste is often compared to crab or lobster. But Lion’s Mane isn’t just a treat for your taste buds—it’s a powerhouse of health benefits. Packed with compounds that support brain health, it’s been shown to boost memory, focus, and even mood.
Why not grow your own and enjoy this fascinating fungi straight from your home?

What is Liquid Culture?
Mushroom liquid culture is essentially live mushroom mycelium which grows within a liquid full of nutrients that provide the necessary energy to support the mycelium. It results in much more rapid mycelium growth through a substrate compared to inoculation with spores, making it a better method to get to your fruitful final stages quicker and enjoy those amazing mushrooms.

Health Benefits
Many scientific studies have been undertaken on the benefits of Lion’s Mane and the results have shown:
- Supports brain health by promoting nerve regeneration and cognitive function.
- Reduction in the symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia.
- Potent antioxidants that limit inflammatory damage from conditions such as heart disease and arthritis.
- Supports gut health and reduces stomach ulcers by fighting the growth of unwanted bacteria.
- Helps regulate blood sugar levels, raise insulin levels and improve heart health.
The compounds hericenones and erinacines contained in Lion’s Mane have been found to stimulate the production of NGF (Nerve Growth Factor) which is essential for the growth, survival, and function of new and mature neurons in the brain and nerve cells elsewhere in the body.
Crucially, some studies suggest the compounds found in the mushrooms are able to get from the bloodstream into the brain, crossing the so-called blood-brain barrier.
Alongside the focus on the cognitive effects of this and potentially protecting the brain from decline with neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s, there are growing studies on the effects for conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
Amazing, right? There is so much hope wrapped up in this wonder of the natural world.
