Typical Recipe

For a standard supplemented sawdust block:

• 1 kg hardwood pellets (dry weight)
• 180 g wheat bran or soy hulls (18 % supplement)
• 1.2 L clean water  – adjust to achieve field capacity (no free dripping)

Mix thoroughly, load into filter‑patch bags or jars and sterilise at 15 psi / 121 °C for 90 minutes. Cool to room temperature before inoculation with grain spawn.

How to Hydrate Pellets

1. Measure pellets by weight or volume into a mixing tub.
2. Add hot water in a 1:1 ratio by weight (e.g. 1 kg water to 1 kg pellets).
3. Allow pellets to break apart and fluff up, then mix until no dry cores remain.
4. Blend in supplements, test for field capacity and adjust water if needed.
