Psilocybe Semilanceata Spores

Known worldwide as the “Liberty Cap,” Psilocybe semilanceata is one of the most famous and widespread psychoactive mushrooms. Unlike wood-loving species, it grows in grasslands, meadows, and pastures, making it a subject of great ecological interest. Its distinctive conical to bell-shaped cap with a prominent nipple-like peak makes it instantly recognisable to researchers.

These spores were taken from a wild specimen and may contain the odd ‘hitchhiker’. We will not replace any speciality Psilocybe spores or take a contamination report, as it is assumed the buyer is experienced and knows how to work with potentially contaminated microscopy spores. If inexperienced with microscopy, we recommend Psilocybe cubensis spores instead.

Background

First described in 1838 by the legendary mycologist Elias Magnus Fries, Psilocybe semilanceata was the first psilocybin-containing mushroom native to Europe to be formally recognised by science. It has a long history in culture and is considered a classic species for taxonomic and microscopic study due to its unique morphology and non-wood-based habitat.
