Rare Psilocybe Spore Collection
Ready to explore beyond the usual? Our collection of rare psilocybe spores is your next step. After all, we believe serious research deserves amazing quality and variety.
So, we present these unique spores with the honest details you need. This is your chance to study incredible genetics from around the world. You can build a truly great spore library.
The Common Myth: “All psilocybe spores look the same under a microscope.”
The Reality: Not at all! While many P. cubensis spores look alike, the world of rare species is full of amazing variety. You’ll find huge differences in spore size, shape, and even colour. The rusty orange of Gymnopilus is a great example. Ultimately, this is your chance to see the true range of fungal genetics.
Choosing a Format For Your Rare Spores
We offer these rare finds in a few formats for your research. Each has its own benefits, so you can pick the one that best suits your style:
- Spore Print: The classic way to store spores. Spores on sterile foil. It’s perfect for long-term storage and for seeing spores in their natural clusters.
- Spore Swab: A sterile cotton swab, heavy with spores. That’s why it’s perfect for putting spores on a slide with care and control.
- Spore Syringe (3ml): Spores mixed in sterile water. This lets you easily put a spore solution on a slide to view it right away.
Our Collection of Rare Psilocybe Spores
Every species here is a unique look into the world of mycology. That’s why we suggest you note where each one comes from. This is key to its unique traits and story.
Lab Cultivated Species
If you want pure samples for your research, these are for you. Specifically, these spores come from mushrooms grown in a clean lab setting.
Panaeolus Cyanescens MIB: A special cross of three Pan-Cyan varieties (PHV, BVI, and Nec’D). It was created by the brilliant Magic Myco Family.
Panaeolus Cyanescens TTBVI: A famous, cup-winning type. It was first found under a Tamarind Tree in the British Virgin Islands.
Psilocybe Mexicana Jalisco: A species with deep history in Mazateca rituals. It can form both mushrooms and ‘truffles’ (sclerotia), which is a neat trait to study.
Psilocybe Tampanensis: Similarly, like Mexicana, this species also forms sclerotia. This makes its life cycle very interesting to study.
Wild & Outdoor Sourced Species
Want to see spores in their natural state? These come from outdoor mushrooms. This gives a more natural research feel. Seeing other tiny microbes from their home is part of the fun.
Psilocybe Semilanceata (Liberty Cap): The UK’s most famous native psychoactive mushroom. It’s a tough one to thrive in our climate!
Psilocybe Subaeruginosa: A well-known species from Australia and New Zealand. These spores come from an outdoor patch that is cared for.
Psilocybe Cyanescens (Wavy Cap): A much-loved species. In addition, it can also be found growing wild in the UK.
Psilocybe Azurescens: Known as the strongest psilocybe on Earth. They are beautiful specimens to see through a microscope.
Gymnopilus Luteofolius: A great addition to your collection! These spores are a lovely, bright rusty-orange colour.
The Truth About These Rare Psilocybe Spores
A quick, honest word on these spores. Unlike our P. cubensis products, we can’t promise these rare spores will be anywhere as clean. In fact, we expect experienced researchers to know how to work with samples that might have a few extra hitchhikers onboard.
With that in mind, our guarantee for these rare species is simple. We promise you will get the correct species you ordered. That’s our commitment to you.
Scientific Classification
Of course, this collection has spores from different groups, so the science info varies. But for the fellow mushroom geeks, here is the basic family tree:
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Agaricales
How to Store Your Rare Spore Collection
- Prints & Swabs: Just store them in a cool, dark, and dry place. A drawer or cupboard is perfect. They will stay usable for many years. For even longer life, keeping them in a sealed container in the fridge is best.
- Syringes: If storing syringes in the fridge, they will be viable for even longer. Keep them in their light-blocking foil bag (becasue fridges tend to be manky!).
Our Promise & The Rules
Buying spores for microscopy is legal in the UK and most of Europe. However, you must check your own local laws.
Also, we are passionate about the science of microscopy. We do not discuss growing, so please do not ask! Our spores are sold for research only, using prints from trusted, legal labs.
Build a World-Class Library of Rare Spores
Moving beyond common species is the sign of a true collector. Indeed, when you study these rare psilocybe spores, you aren’t just looking at cells; you are helping protect global genetics. After all, each slide you prepare is a unique glimpse into nature. So, build a library that tells a story of this variety, and choose a supplier who respects the science and spirit of your work.

I didn’t manage to get my experiment started but likely that it was my doing.
Thanks Tim, Liberty Cap will continue to be the elusive species that causes the most pain for microscopists. We’ve followed the microscopy expeiments on that species for nearly 20 years now, and still no-one has figured out its magic secret yet. Check out the shroomery.org/forums for it đŸ™‚
