This product has an injection port, so may be injected outside of a SAB as long as you’re very careful. But, to do it correctly and increase your odds of success – always work within a SAB (Still-Air Box).

You will receive either Rye Grain or Wholewheat, depending on stock. Both grains provide the same high level of results.

How to use

Yes, a lot of our customers skip the SAB whenever they buy kits with injection ported lids – but it’s bad practice and some will suffer contamination as a result. SABs can be homemade or purchased from us – we offer an extra large SAB here with loads of working space and a large SAB is also included as part of our all-in-one CyLab product here

• • Wipe the rubber port and inject 1.5 – 3ml/cc around the SpawnTub™ (against the plastic wall) and finish with a little squirt in the middle
  • 26C is the ideal temperature. Mycelium will usually make an appearance after just a few days to a week.
  • If you are struggling to maintain a consistant temperature above 20C, your mycelium will grow very slowly or possibly even stall to a complete halt. Consider purchasing our CyLab or building an incubator which can maintain a stable temperature of 26C.

Using Agar Wedge or G2G Transfers

You will absolutely need a SAB to have any success at agar or G2G transfers. But a SAB won’t do anything for you if it’s dirty inside or your technique is rubbish or you’re in a dusty, drafty room. Practice, experience and thinking about how contaminants are transferred around is how to get good at working within a SAB. We’ve had customers coming and saying to us; “I worked in a SAB but it still contaminated, your product is faulty”. A person could work in the best Cleanroom in the world and still manage to contaminate everything in their path if they aren’t calculating every move they make and thing that they touch. • • Remove the lid from your SpawnTub and drop in a piece of colonised agar or pour in some colonised grain you have from another SpawnTub
  • Leave in a warm place to colonise at around 20C. Mycelium will usually start growing outwards in a day – it’s fast!
